Alycia Schramm: Blog Response 2

I grew up in the country. My house was surrounded by trees and stretches of farmland, so tall buildings and crowded squares were not something I experienced very often. When I moved to Boston as a freshman, I was thrilled at all the people, excitement and motion that filled the city.

That, of course, can also be overwhelming. It took me a while to figure out where I was in the city and how to get around. I found myself searching for landmarks - buildings or landscaping that stood out from and were unique to their surroundings. One of the tallest and brightest buildings in the center of Boston is the Prudential tower. I have always referenced it to estimate what side of the city I am on, how close I am to school, etc.
