I was born and raised in a small town on Cape Cod, MA and rarely ventured to the city, so when I decided to come to school here I knew it was going to be a big change. All homes on the cape are very similar and family homes no larger than 3 floors. Living in a town with lots of trees and open space and privacy made coming to a city a major culture and environmental change. In the first year of school I would try and explore most of the surrounding city with my bike or even walk around. By my second year I had a car on campus and went back to the Cape on the weekends, which made me understand how Boston works and driving to and from the city. Seeing the entire city from Interstate 93 is amazing and then to understand how you experience it when you’re right next to the buildings is wonderful. The most important building I found for direction is obviously the Prudential Building due to the fact it is tall and close to where I live and I know the surrounding area of it.
