I grew up in a small rural town in Virginia. I passed more livestock on my way to school than houses. Coming from a town with 5 stoplights, Boston was a hectic yet refreshing change. Since freshman year, I have come to find my way around by looking to the sky, not to the cross streets. Boston is unique because outside the main downtown area there are 3 skyscrapers that help map and pin point your location in the city. These three buildings are the Prudential Center, the John Hancock and 111 Huntington Avenue. By understanding their relationship to each other from true north, one can determine what section of Boston just by these three buildings. In the picture above, I have diagramed views towards these three buildings from different neighborhoods. This is a simple, fast, and foolproof way to navigate around and through the great city of Boston.
