Nicole Wetherbee

I grew up in Pembroke, Massachusetts, 40 minutes away from Boston. So as a kid i frequently visited the city with my family and friends. Knowing that I was going to Wentworth and would be on my own was very new to me. Growing up in the suburbs is a lot different than living in the city. I feel like its so much easier for me to get around at home than in Boson. Half the time your waiting for the right T or have to walk somewhere, so just getting in a car and getting to where I need to be is easier. Back at home, all the buildings and houses look about the same, and here in Boston there is so much variety, almost an overwhelming amount of variety. But because I am learning about Architecture I feel Boston was the best place to learn about it, because everything you need to be able to learn is steps away from where we live. There are so many different ways to get yourself lost. I found that getting lost and learning how to get back was easier to find out where places were, rather than looking on a map. For the most part, living here in the city for two years, I have learned where buildings are. A big way to find your way back to Wentworth is used by a lot of us "If you can find the Prudential Center, you can find your way back to Wentworth." So although the city looks big and intimidating, it is not something to be afraid of. Leaving my comfort zone back in Pembroke, MA was the best decision I made.
