Adam Parsons: Blog Entry 9 and 10
One project this semester that was of particular interest to me was Alberti's Pallazo Rucellai. It reminds me of a topic Mark Pasnik discussed last semester in regards to the debate between Laugier and Semper on the logic of the facade. The argument raised to question was whether or not a facade should be truthful or can be rhetoric discerning the role of structure. I believe Alberti's Pallazo Rucellai continues this discussion, focusing more closely on the role of the skin of the facade. I appreciate his willingness as an 'architect' to challenge the perception of conditioned reality; something which I myself have spent a lot of time this semester thinking about. I often find that the most compelling architecture is that that forces me to consider what I assume about design, as is shown clearly in Alberti's facade picture above.
