Tyler Lombardi - Blog Response 9 & 10

Throughout this course we have studied a wide range of architecture. Though there were several compelling lectures the lecture that most interested me was Venice. I think that Venice as a whole is a period of architecture in which the style is something I understand and enjoy looking at. More specifically within this lecture, the Villa Almerico (La Rotunda), was one of my favorite projects we studied. The use of symmetry and proportion creates something so simple yet beautiful. The architect, Palladio, gained inspiration from the Pantheon and uses classical language such as columns and porticos in the facades to represent this style of architecture. I think that this particular project spoke to me because the experience you would gain of actually visiting the project would allow you to understand what the architect was trying to achieve in his design.
