Anette Balestrand Blog 3

My favorite collection at the MFA is the Egyptian collection. Every time I go, I can’t help but go through it. For this assignment I decided I wanted to explore more of the other collections and made my way to the Greek collection. Greek architecture has always fascinated me and I love the details and perfection they put into everything they did. The artifact that really caught my attention was a sculpture of Dionysos and maenad. The details are breathtaking and it made me think about how much thought the Greeks put into their designs. The Greeks were masters at carving stone and marble. It made me think about the temples we explored in lecture and the wonderful carvings done on different parts of the temple. The carvings tell a story, just like many of the sculptures.
