When visiting the MFA there were several eye-catching pieces relating to the topics discussed throughout our course. The most interesting work that I looked at were the segments taken from the pediment at the site of the Temple of Athena at Assos. I wanted to look at these segments because it is interesting to compare what the pediment reflects and how it relates to the temple and the culture. The reliefs that were at the MFA, for instance, came from the Temple of Athena and showed people hunting and different mythological animals they believed in. From these different reliefs we can compare cultures and learn more about how they operated. Looking at other reliefs, there are changes in what is being reflected in the culture. The Parthenon is still from the Greek period but represents different customs, for instance, one side of the pediment shows Greek figures competing for the patronage of Greece.
