The Appeal of the Spirit was always used as our school's trophy coming in to the entrance of my high school. I never really understood the significance or tie our school had to it, but I knew it meant a great deal. The cross town rival were the Raiders, who had an indian for their logo. Quincy is historically a heated battle between these two schools, especially in football. Quincy's history as a Native American settlement must have played a role in this statue, and the opposite school's logo. Every time I see this statue, I am reminded of the respect through the rivalry of my city.
