Michelle Lopez- Blog Response 3

When first arriving at the MFA I was very confused about what I was looking for. As I was wondering around the Egyptian funerary section, I found a statue of a woman that immediately struck me. This statue was once placed inside of a tomb wall. But by looking at it, it seemed to not fit in with the Egyptian culture. This piece held various elements of the Greeks and Romans. The woman was clothed in long flowing robe, as if it were a Greek Goddess. Also the woman was holding a pot, which leads me to think that she could have been giving up an offering to the gods. This statue lead me to various other questions such as how did the Romans or Greeks influenced the Egyptians? My best answer is that maybe from trading routes over the years that the Greek or Roman culture rubbed off onto the Egyptians.
