When the Romans did something, they did it big. During their reign they controlled a vast majority of the known world at that time. The artifact that caught my attention was Sarcophagus with triumph of Dionysos located in the Roman exhibit. The sculpture displays the success they had when they took over part of India. In class we looked at the Roman architecture and how they were all over known world of the time. After they were there they influenced not only the architecture there and to come but also their own architecture. As they expanded their domain they learned new ways of approaching new issues and situations. The Roman expansion was a time for change and growth, which this sculpture captures in a quick image of the blending of cultures.
