Anette Balestrand Blog 5

Visiting our studio site on multiple occasions and times I became fascinated with the ferry pavilion on the Greenway. The pavilion shows a very interesting transformation in the purpose of the structure from day to night, dark to light. During the day the steel structure together with the curved roof create a place of shadow and protection from the sun. As night comes, the structure becomes the light, directing light onto the ceiling of the pavilion, highlighting the steel structure and illuminating the whole pavilion. During the day the pavilion catches your eyes with its different materials and the horizontal play in the façade, but during the night, all your eyes can focus on is the brightly lit ceiling/roof and the steels interaction with it.
