Steph Greenlaw Blog Response 5

When thinking of buildings and structures for this blog, I immediately started to think of buildings all around Boston. Then I realized that I didn't have to look any further than our campus. The new addition to the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum is a perfect example of light and structure working together. During the day, the structure is the facade. At night however, light shines through the steel to illuminate the glass and allows the structure to glow and distinguish itself from its surroundings. The interplay between the two is interesting because in daylight, the steel frames the light to cast shadows. On the other hand, at night, the light frames the steel to create this unique glowing effect and distinguishing quality.
