Nicole Wetherbee Blog Response #8

The ICA is a good example when it comes to how building elements meet. There are a few examples. By extruding the room out of the building, it gives you a feeling of floating. I think this makes the world feel different, as if you are in a different world. The window that is seen is a way to experience the outdoors from inside. Walking up to the slanted window gives you the feeling of fear and excitement, you are leaning over something that we all know is safe, but because the window is slanted your heart starts pounding faster with fear. The long hall way facing towards the sea is another way to show the effect of floating. Because the window is from floor to ceiling there is really no way to tell where it ends, the only distinction is the the window connections. The ICA is a great place to explore the different ways of feeling like you are floating without actually floating.
