Kacy Cunningham: Blog 8

In ancient Italy there was a famous wishing well. No matter your wish it came true if you only gazed upon the well and uttered your deepest desires. The competition to own such a well was fierce and deadly and soon all hell broke loose. By the time the dust had settled the well was destroyed. Everyone continued to gaze upon the ruins wishing for their dreams, but the magic of the well was lost forever. A monument to all those lost in the battle was then constructed to remind everyone of the greed that cost so many lives. The glass floor panels meet the floor joists in the simplest, least distracting manner so that all the focus is on the ruins below. The detail is but a background, a thin strip of rubber, that keeps you from ruins below. This small strip is but a metaphor for the small delicate string that ties us to this earth.
