Kresge Auditorium at MIT is a perfect example of how significant material connections can be to a project. The roof of this building seems to float above the landscape, only connecting with the ground at three points. The outer walls are glass, which add to the illusion of floating. The connection detail is really important because it allows for this large outer shell to touch down gracefully. It's as if these three small points are pushing the roof off the ground by themselves. This building illustrates the simple yet exquisite connection between ground and sky, and how small connections can make a big impact.
