Caitlin Pandolph- Blog 8

The Boston Public Library Courtyard is a very interesting and inspiring place. The arches that frame the courtyard are thin and seem to spring up from the ground. On the pieces in between the arches the small circle details create a feeling that brings one back to Brunelleschi's orphanage in Florence. On the top of the arches the building becomes heavier and less opaque, a sharp contrast to the open arches below. The courtyard is perfectly maintained and the gardens are flush with the path so the two seem to blend together. The different layers make this a unique space.
