Steph Greenlaw Blog Response #6

When I was in high school I spent almost all of my free time reading. I loved being brought into a whole different world through words. There aren't many books that do this better than Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Ender's Game is one of a kind. I can not only picture the battle school that the majority of the story takes place in, but the entire world that it is set in. Card has a whole new look on architecture that isn't futuristic in the sense that more books set in space in the future are, but certainly isn't modern. I'd never heard of anything like it. He is able to use his imagination and creativity to create something magnificent and yet still believable. This is the same goal that I have when I design. I don't want the person experience the space to have seen or felt what they feel in any other building. I want each experience to be unique. As with designing, each time I read Ender's Game, I learn something new.
