Recently I discovered the architect Jean Nouvel who has really inspired me quite a bit lately. In the book entitled “Jean Nouvel” there are a variety of his works throughout his career so far. A few of his project in particular have really inspired my approach to architecture. He deals with a lot of ideas based on not knowing how you are supposed to access and be in a space. I really enjoy the idea of not knowing what is considered the access point to a building or space. He also deals with the idea of play and how certain aspects of a building interact with one another and are allowed to appear or seem to disappear due to angles or times of the day. One example of his work that has really inspired me through these ideas is the Cartier Foundation Building in Paris. It encompasses all the ideas of how a structure can begin to appear or disappear to before ones eyes. Nouvel’s ideas and projects have really inspired me in the way I approach my designs and buildings in architecture recently and I am sure for many years to come.
