Matt Rowell- Blog 5

Boston has always been a city that takes great pride in its accomplishments. The city’s great architecture is a historic representation of how far the city has come. The Leonard P. Zakim Memorial Bridge is just one of the many structures that was built to highlight Boston’s overcoming of a revolutionary battle on Bunker Hill. The bridge is a gateway in and out of North Boston. As one of the largest cable-stay bridges in the world, the bridge can be seen from miles away. To emphasize its representation as a freedom memorial and grand structure, blue LED lighting is used to emanate the cables at night. The lighting gesture affectively illuminates the large-span cables on the bridge as a landmark for all of Boston.
