Erin Hartmann-Blog 8

This was once the major 'Jiffy Pop' popping facility, located in Richmond, VA. Each floor was surrounded by aluminum spaces, where the popcorn was popped. There are three floors, separated, to create three times more popcorn than previous popping facilities. The kernels were put onto heated floors in the aluminum spaces, where they were given the space to pop. After the kernels popped and filled the spaces, they were removed to local theaters and the aluminum was set back into place. The aluminum has stretched and shrunk so many times that it is permanently bent and dented. There are many holes where popcorn has popped its way through the aluminum wrapper, but Jiffy Pop patched them up. Sadly, Jiffy Pop is out of date today and the facility is no longer in use.
