Greg Sherwin Blog Response #8

In Manhattan, NYC I visited a building over looking ground zero, which allowed for an elevated view of the monument and a space of reflection. This space of reflection was created where the façade disappears and the small connection members of the glazing are lost. This super enlarged connection (shown in the image) is an expression of the importance of this easily missed moment in the facade construction. Although these are minimal in proportion to the massive panels of glass, these elements are very important to the structure of the façade as well as a key component to the success of the design.
