The MIT Chapel has always struck me as a building that shapes light using structure and vice versa. As seen in the picture, from the outside, the chapel appears to be a large boring solid mass that allows no light. Upon entering, I was proven wrong and was hit with the beauty of the inside. One can see light reflects back up and creates a poetic relationship between the inside and outside walls. Its this indirect light that creates and emphasizes the textures and qualities of the space.
