Angela Liccardo Blog 5

When I think of light interacting with architecture, I instantly think about the reflecting pool. But when I was taking it all in, I was more captured by how the light interacts with the arcade at The Christian Science Center. The Christian Science Center brings the idea of light and structure as one element. The light connects with the structure to create a sense of shadow and depth. While also revealing and concealing the spaces as you move through the arcade. The light plays an important role in circulation as it guides the viewer down the colonnade and accentuates the orderly rhythm of the pilaster. The way form and light connect defines and describes the spaces.
