David Girardi- Blog 5

In the MFA in the contemporary wing there is a glass vault. The structure is clear in the vault with the metal supports going around it and the horizontal metal supports are the secondary structure. On the square patterns created by the primary and secondary structure there are smaller horizontal louvers that acts as a shaders for the windows. If there weren't those shades then the light and heat in the space would become unbearable. The metal frames creates square patterns in the space when the light shines in.
