The Allston public library is among my favorite buildings in boston. The use of light in the building and the way in which structure is utilized to form spaces with light is very apparent. I unfortunately forgot my camera so the picture is from the past summer, but the sense is the same. The main entry way is a much taller space that allows a great deal of light to signify the space. The large sheets of glass that create the open void are held into place by wood covered mullions that tie the form back to the building. Many of the spaces in the library are much dimmer, and have a much more controlled feeling of lighting.
