Adam Parsons: Blog Entry 5

The interplay between technology and architecture has always been of interest to me. The idea that structure can begin to become integrated with technology systems that ultimately affect the user experience is extremely modern, and in the end, opens up previous held beliefs of what the limits of the relationship of structure and light are defined as.

Pictured above is an LED projected surface just outside of the Convention Center near the ICA. This artificially generated light contains the ability to adjust every few seconds to project a new scene, impacting its surrounding in a constantly changing manner.

  1. Interesting, but how does this relate to structure + light?

  2. I guess the way I was viewing structure in this case was as an entity interdependent with the envelope of the object pictured here; in which case, artificial light plays a substantial role in defining the character of the overall architectural form.
